Baseball Season

Ahhh baseball season. We are smack dab in the middle of it and I have to say, it gets more and more fun every year!
I am really enjoying watching my boys play, and it helps that (most of the time), they enjoy playing!
It isn't always easy. First of all, there is the behind-the-scenes chaos of getting ready for games. Making sure uniforms are clean, finding belts and socks and missing cleats. Why are we always missing something?? Convincing Lucas that yes, he should play. Making sure all the kids have their water bottles, snacks, toys, chairs, etc etc etc. Thankfully we have grandparents who help out a lot with getting the boys there on time, and watching the little ones while we're there.
And then once we are there it can be a bit difficult to actually watch the boys play. Because Andrew is running one way, Jenna needs to go potty, and Lucas wants a snack from the Snack Shack. Speaking of Andrew, he is definitely going to play in a few years. He wears a helmet or hat constantly, always has a ball in his hand, and tells me " I play baseball". "We go to baseball?" "I'm a baseball player!"
After games it is a bit crazy at home, because it is already 7:30 and everyone still needs to eat and shower. (Send me your ideas for easy make-ahead dinners!) Just this week we have 4 games and 1 practice.

But it's all worth it. I love seeing my boys out there, working hard and having fun. Baseball really seemed to click last year for Ryan, and he has gotten even better this year. Last night he got yet another game ball because he got a hit every time he was at bat and got to 3rd each time before their team got 3 outs. Then he caught a fast grounder and threw a guy out at 1st. Ryan almost always plays 3rd base or shortstop. He's got great reflexes and it just super quick.
Lucas has grown leaps and bounds since t-ball last year. He is very coordinated like his brother, and he's got a terrific arm. He is always in the ready-position when out on the field. In fact, one of the moms told me that she was having trouble with her son losing focus during the games. She told him to watch Lucas, because he is always focused and ready. I had to laugh because it can be quite hard to get him to his games, but once he's there he is in game-mode!
Because of all the rain earlier in the season, we have a bunch of makeup games that will take us into mid-June. It is turning out to be a very long season but I know we're going to miss it when it's over. Go Dodgers and Rockies!
