Happy Birthday Lucas Reid Nullmeyer! Double digits are a big deal, and so are you.
Freshly born squish face:
Lucas you are a very special member of our family. Always the first to help me carry in groceries. Always the first to give me a hug (hugging you is like hugging a teddy bear). Always my most animated child with the biggest imagination. Always my hardest worker.
This year you really excelled in baseball and guitar. Even though you claimed to be tired of baseball, you led your team as starting pitcher, and were an absolute star, always the first one out on the field.
You began guitar lessons at the beginning of the school year, and you have caught on so quickly! You and Ryan often practice together, constantly learning new rock songs to play for us.
You got a new RC car for your birthday, just like your older brother did. I love watching you figure out your talents and hobbies. I'm not sure if you will be as car-obsessed as your big brother and Daddy, but time will tell.
You are incredibly talented at putting together legos, and you can quietly focus on them for hours. Your latest projects include a replica of our back deck (complete with a BBQ with food on it) and a house with a bathroom inside, containing details down to the toilet paper roll holder. And always lots of cars.
You still continue to be challenging in your unique ways. Your food pickiness has reached a new frustrating level. Some days your temper is under control. Other days it explodes, and your emotional/aggressive reactions don't seem logical.
Lucas, you do things in your own way and on your own terms. If you don't want to do something, it's near impossible to reason with you. Sometimes we have to back off and give you time. But once you make up your mind to do something, you are committed, and you will work hard. I really appreciate what a hard worker you are, and I know that will serve you well in life.
What's unique about you: You are my BEST sleeper. You love being scratched, and you sit beside me every night while I read to you kids, just so you can be scratched. You are missing an adult canine tooth. You love collecting things like rocks and bottle caps, and you get really upset if people go in your room and tough your items. You can eat an entire tray of kale chips. You have freckles on only one side of your face.
